ADAPTATIONS

The Giant Panda has adapted to living in the wild in order for it to survive. One example of the Pandas adaptations are that its head and jaw muscles are stong enough to chew the tough Bamboo plant. If its jaw muscles were not this strong the Panda could not chew the Bamboo. It would either have to die of hunger or adapt to eating a new food. Another thing the Panda has adapted to is its digestive system is specalized - in order for the Panda to properly digest the Bamboo plant.  Otherwise again, the Panda would need a new food if its system did not agree with the Bamboo. Something else the Panda has adapteded to is that its black and white fur blend in with the rocky and frosty mountain tops in China. This is also known as camoflauge which sometimes saves the Panda from its predators. Another interesting adaptation the Panda has is it has a thumb on it`s wrist. This unique element on the Pandas body is scientifically called the "Pseudo thumb." This body part is used to the Pandas advantage as it helps them grip the Bamboo. Without this they wouldn`t be able to pick up the Bamboo stalks.
